Few artists embody the crossroads between blues, country, folk and American rock & roll quite like Dave Alvin. A founding member of The Blasters, the Californian has also built a solo career on guitars, life on the road and songs steeped in the spirit of the borderlands, spending decades telling stories of losers, hustlers and characters living on the fringes of the American dream. Alongside The Guilty Ones, his music gains extra muscle on stage, bringing roots tradition together with the electricity of rock and guitar playing that can be as elegant as it is incendiary. At Azkena Rock Festival, Dave Alvin will bring the weight of a career devoted to keeping the great American songbook alive without ever turning it into a museum piece.
