Looking like a band straight out of a cabaret at the end of the world, The Urban Voodoo Machine have been turning stages into celebrations of rock & roll, blues, punk, country and New Orleans jazz since 2003. Led by the unmistakable Paul-Ronney Angel, the London outfit christened their peculiar blend “bourbon-soaked gypsy blues bop’n’stroll”, a recipe packed with guitars, brass, accordions, percussion and plenty of bar-room spirit. Dressed in black and red and armed with a live show as theatrical as it is unpredictable, their gigs become rituals of sweat, dancing and glorious mayhem. At Azkena Rock Festival, they’ll unleash their full arsenal and prove that once this band’s ritual begins, standing still is no longer an option.
