Gran Cañón came together for one very simple reason: a group of friends wanted to play the songs that made them fall in love with rock music in the first place. Led by Carlos Tarque and Leiva and featuring musicians connected to M-Clan, Los Zigarros and other key names from the Spanish rock scene, the band dives straight into the great songbook of the 1960s and ’70s. The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding and The Black Crowes all belong to a musical landscape that Gran Cañón approach less as a collection of covers than as a tribute to a particular sound. Rock, blues, soul and country played without museum-piece nostalgia and with one basic rule: enjoy every minute on stage.
