NICK LOWE

For more than five decades, Nick Lowe has proved that few things age better than a great song. A key figure in British pub rock and an important presence in the emergence of punk and new wave, he first made his name with Brinsley Schwarz before becoming an influential songwriter, producer and solo artist. He produced landmark records for Elvis Costello, The Damned and Graham Parker, while writing songs such as “Cruel to Be Kind” and “(What’s So Funny ’Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding”, later turned into a classic by Costello. Over the years, Lowe has refined his music into an elegant, warm and deceptively simple form of rock ’n’ roll, driven by wit and exceptional songwriting craft. His long-running partnership with Los Straitjackets culminated in Indoor Safari (2024), his first full-length album in eleven years. That combination of class, melody and timeless songs now comes to Azkena Rock Festival.
