Few bands can claim to have turned critical thinking, melody and speed into a formula as instantly recognisable as Bad Religion. Formed in Los Angeles in 1980 and led by Greg Graffin, they are one of the fundamental pillars of American punk, pushing the genre into territory where melodic harmonies meet lyrics that question politics, religion and society. Albums such as Suffer, No Control and Against the Grain shaped entire generations, while anthems like American Jesus and 21st Century (Digital Boy) have lost none of their ability to ignite any stage. For Azkena Rock Festival’s 25th anniversary, Bad Religion will arrive at Mendizabala to celebrate more than four decades of punk, social and political commentary and, above all, great songs that have left their mark on several generations.
