MICHAEL MONROE plays Hanoi Rocks

Michael Monroe is one of those figures without whom the rock ’n’ roll of the past few decades would be difficult to explain. As the frontman of Hanoi Rocks, he brought an explosive blend of punk, glam and rock ’n’ roll out of Finland, turning the band into a cult act and a major influence on an entire generation that followed, from Guns N’ Roses to much of the Los Angeles glam and sleaze scene. After the band split, Monroe kept that energy intact throughout an extensive solo career. A familiar face at Mendizabala, where he has already performed both solo and with Demolition 23., he now returns to the festival to celebrate the songs and legacy of a band essential to understanding ’80s rock ’n’ roll.
