Executioner hoods, concealed identities and an absolute obsession with Link Wray: welcome to Blind Rage & Violence. The mysterious North Carolina outfit take the legacy of the distorted-guitar pioneer and drag it through instrumental rock & roll, garage punk and rockabilly, keeping everything suitably raw and dirty. Associated with Deke Dickerson, the band have pushed their devotion beyond straightforward tribute: The End of Rock and Roll imagined how Wray might have continued to sound, while the No Police! 7-inch injected an even stronger dose of punk attitude into the formula. They already ventured into our wildest corner with an appearance at Trashville in 2019. Now they’re back to prove that a great riff, played with enough distortion, still needs very little explanation.
