Extreme metal will have a place at this year’s Azkena Rock Festival thanks to Voivod. Blending thrash, progressive metal and dystopian science fiction, the band has built a unique universe since their beginnings — a post-nuclear world filled with mutants, broken technology, industrial decay and space travel. Albums like Killing Technology, Dimension Hatröss and Nothingface defined an era by pushing metal beyond clichés, with jagged riffs, unpredictable structures and chaotic dissonance transformed into art.
