Azkena Rock Festival today unveils the first headliners for its next\u00a0 edition, which will be held on <\/span>June 18, 19, and 20, 2026, <\/b>in Vitoria Gasteiz. This first batch of confirmations is led by the incombustible\u00a0 legend <\/span>Alice Cooper, <\/b>who will turn Mendizabala into a veritable rock\u00a0 horror theater, and <\/span>Social Distortion, <\/b>pioneers of Californian punk rock\u00a0 who return to the city five years after their last visit to the festival in 2021,\u00a0 both with exclusive dates in Spain. The first preview of artists who will\u00a0 turn Mendizabala into the capital of rock also includes <\/span>Imelda May,\u00a0 Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, Old Crow Medicine Show, Sleaford Mods,\u00a0 SUGAR, The Adicts, Evaristo, Circle Jerks, Corrosion of Conformity,\u00a0 Therapy?, The Damn Truth, The Del Fuegos, Discharge, Split Dogs,\u00a0 Starbenders, Tropical Fuck Storm, Voivod, Rodeo and Nhil.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Coinciding with its 24th edition, this first preview of the program once\u00a0 again reflects the festival’s commitment to what makes it unique: a\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

first-rate artistic program and a wide-ranging and diverse lineup. Once\u00a0 again, <\/span>Vitoria-Gasteiz will welcome big names linked to rock and roll\u00a0 in all its forms, <\/b>offering the public a genuine three-day experience\u00a0 marked by eclecticism, quality, and a stylistic plurality that embraces\u00a0 both the classics and the most groundbreaking proposals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alice Cooper <\/b>will return to Mendizabala in 2026, seventeen years after\u00a0 his last visit, with a theatrical show marked by horror, burlesque, and\u00a0 vaudeville. The godfather of <\/span>shock rock <\/span><\/i>and an essential figure in rock\u00a0 since the 1970s, he will offer a performance full of provocation, charisma,\u00a0 and immortal songs. This summer he released <\/span>The Revenge of Alice\u00a0 Cooper, <\/span><\/i>an album that reunites his original band more than five\u00a0 decades later and whose songs will be added to a repertoire that will\u00a0 also revisit many of his classics, on his only date in Spain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Four years after their last visit, <\/span>Social Distortion <\/b>will return to Vitoria Gasteiz with an exclusive stop to offer an authentic <\/span>masterclass <\/span><\/i>in punk\u00a0 rock & roll. Emerging from Californian punk more than four decades\u00a0 ago, Mike Ness’s band has earned the respect of several generations\u00a0 thanks to its evolution towards classic rock & roll, country, and blues.\u00a0 Their live show will feature anthems about loss, addiction, and\u00a0 redemption, turned into songs with the emotion and class that only\u00a0 they know how to convey.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The festival will offer unrepeatable moments, with exclusive concerts\u00a0 and performances that are out of the ordinary. <\/span>Imelda May <\/b>will offer a\u00a0 unique show alongside Darrel Highman, showcasing their chemistry on\u00a0 stage as they recapture the purest essence of classic rock & roll, relying\u00a0 on their vocal strength and electrifying stage presence. The audience\u00a0 will also witness the reunion of <\/span>SUGAR, <\/b>who will make a unique stop on\u00a0 the peninsula thirty years after their breakup and having made history\u00a0 with albums such as <\/span>Copper Blue. <\/span><\/i>For their part, <\/span>Therapy? <\/b>will perform\u00a0 <\/span>Troublegum <\/span><\/i>in its entirety<\/span>, <\/span><\/i>one of the key albums of 90s <\/span>noise rock<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0 whose virtues managed to bring together punks, metalheads, hardcore\u00a0 fans, and other lovers of the most distorted sounds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Straight from Nashville, the multi-award-winning <\/span>Jason Isbell & The\u00a0 400 Unit <\/b>will arrive in Mendizabala to give a masterclass in alternative\u00a0 country, southern rock, and roots folk, with songs that honestly address\u00a0 the complexity of human relationships, performed by the former Drive-<\/span><\/p>\n

By Truckers member and his band with the mastery that has earned\u00a0 them several Grammys. From the same city and sharing that narrative\u00a0 spirit and storytelling, <\/span>Old Crow Medicine Show <\/b>will also be landing at\u00a0 the festival, celebrating their 25-year career with a new album and a\u00a0 review of classics such as <\/span>Wagon Wheel <\/span><\/i>and <\/span>Remedy <\/span><\/i>in what will be\u00a0 their first ever performance in Spain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Punk will be well represented in this first preview of the lineup thanks\u00a0 to bands that have left their mark on the genre from different parts of\u00a0 the map. The flagship of Alava punk, <\/span>Evaristo <\/b>will offer a complete show\u00a0 in which he will perform the great anthems of <\/span>La Polla Records <\/span><\/i>along\u00a0 with songs from his other projects – Gatillazo and Tropa do Carallo – reaffirming his inexhaustible energy and his commitment to the most\u00a0 rebellious and combative message. From the United Kingdom,\u00a0 <\/span>Discharge <\/b>will arrive with their renowned forcefulness, considered the\u00a0 fathers of D-Beat and an essential reference for the most extreme forms\u00a0 of metal such as thrash, grind, and black. Also from the British Isles,\u00a0 specifically Nottingham, <\/span>Sleaford Mods <\/b>will highlight the\u00a0 uncomfortable truths of the present: unemployment, precariousness,\u00a0 consumerist culture, and social crises, in an electronic post-punk\u00a0 proposal that is as uncomfortable as it is necessary. Crossing the\u00a0 Atlantic, from Hermosa Beach (California), <\/span>Circle Jerks <\/b>will review four\u00a0 decades of history with Keith Morris at the helm, in a live show loaded\u00a0 with short, fierce songs and social satire that is still relevant today. From\u00a0 the same Californian scene, <\/span>The Adicts <\/b>will arrive in Mendizabala with\u00a0 their farewell tour <\/span>Adios Amigos <\/span><\/i>after five decades of irreverence, in a\u00a0 great melodic and delirious punk party where anthems such as <\/span>Viva La\u00a0 Revolution! <\/span><\/i>will be sung in unison. From Australia, <\/span>Tropical Fuck Storm\u00a0 <\/b>will present Fairyland Codex, their new work: an incursion into digital\u00a0 chaos, contemporary conspiracies, and human fragility, in the key of\u00a0 experimental punk.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

American heavy metal icons <\/span>Corrosion of Conformity <\/b>will arrive at the\u00a0 festival as a prelude to their new double album of covers of great\u00a0 classics, the <\/span>Riffissippi Studio Jam Sessions<\/span><\/i>, from which they have\u00a0 already released a cover <\/span>of Free’s <\/span>Fire And Water<\/span><\/i>. Rounding out the <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>representation of the most extreme sounds, <\/span>Voivod <\/b>will forcefully <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>defend their position as a cult band of the genre and their unique blend <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of thrash, progressive metal, and dystopian science fiction.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lineup is completed by more recent bands that bring a breath of\u00a0 fresh air to the current rock & roll scene. These are projects with their\u00a0 own identity, brimming with attitude and looking to leave their mark\u00a0 on Mendizabala. From the direct street punk and fast-paced riffs of <\/span>Split\u00a0 Dogs <\/b>to the references to 70s and 80s rock of <\/span>Starbenders, <\/b>close to new\u00a0 wave and glam. Canada’s <\/span>The Damn Truth <\/b>will arrive like a veritable\u00a0 rock & roll machine, fronted by Lee-La Baum\u2014vocals and guitar\u2014 overflowing with power and stage presence, and from Gipuzkoa, <\/span>Nhil\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

will deploy their elegant fusion of pop, soul, and funk, presenting songs\u00a0 from their third album, <\/span>Etxea. <\/span><\/i>while <\/span>Rodeo <\/b>will perform songs from\u00a0 their latest album, <\/span>X<\/span><\/i>, to demonstrate why they are considered one of\u00a0 the benchmark bands of Basque stoner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, <\/span>The Del Fuegos <\/b>join these first confirmations after their reunion\u00a0 last year, fronted by brothers Dan and Warren Zanes, the latter being\u00a0 the author of the official biography of Tom Petty and the essay that\u00a0 inspired the recent biopic of The Boss, <\/span>Springsteen: Deliver Me From\u00a0 Nowhere.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The <\/span>fan waiting list <\/b>to get festival passes opens today and will remain\u00a0 open until Friday, October 31, at 12 noon. Those who have attended\u00a0 previous editions of the festival will have access to an <\/span>exclusive presale\u00a0 <\/b>starting tomorrow, Wednesday, October 29, at a special price. <\/span>Fan sales\u00a0 <\/b>will begin on Monday, <\/span>November 3, at 10 a.m., <\/b>and general sales will be\u00a0 available from Tuesday, November 4, at the same time at\u00a0 <\/span>azkenarockfestival.com <\/span>at a promotional price. In addition to passes for\u00a0 the three days of the festival, those under 24 can purchase the <\/span>Gaztea\u00a0 Pass <\/b>(\u20ac100 + fees) and, following its success last year, the <\/span>Cuadrilla Pass <\/b>will be available again<\/span>, <\/b>a treat for all groups of friends who mark their\u00a0 ARF date on the calendar every year and for which they will receive 6\u00a0 passes for the purchase of 5. As in previous editions, installment\u00a0 payments will be available for both presale and general sale, and\u00a0 <\/span>admission will be free for children under 14. <\/b>The festival will once\u00a0 again offer organized bus trips with stops adjacent to the entrance to\u00a0 the venue and from nearby towns such as Bilbao, Pamplona,\u00a0 Donostia\/San Sebasti\u00e1n, Zarautz, Arrasate, and Alsasua.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The image design for this edition is by <\/span>The Zuzenders<\/b>, an artistic\u00a0 collective from Vitoria-Gasteiz that has already collaborated on previous\u00a0 editions of the festival, creating postcards, stamps, and animated\u00a0 audiovisual pieces. For 2026, this drawing-music action group <\/span>wanted\u00a0 to pay tribute to the iconography of Vitoria-Gasteiz, placing a raven\u00a0 in the center of the image: <\/b>present on the city’s coat of arms and\u00a0 undoubtedly one of the most enigmatic animals linked to the imagery\u00a0 of rock & roll.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Azkena Rock Festival is much more than a musical event<\/b>: it is an\u00a0 authentic celebration of rock in all its forms and, year after year, offers\u00a0 an unforgettable experience.
