Azkena Rock Festival kicks off with\u00a0Dinosaur Jr.<\/strong>, performing their classic 1994 album\u00a0Without a Sound<\/em>\u00a0in full, along with other fan favorites. Joining them are\u00a0The Damned<\/strong>, pioneers of British punk, featuring a classic lineup responsible for albums like\u00a0The Black Album<\/em>\u00a0(1980) and\u00a0Strawberries<\/em>\u00a0(1982). The unmistakable voice of\u00a0Melissa Etheridge<\/strong>, a rock icon since the late \u201980s, will add to the excitement. The day continues with the infectious punk melodies of\u00a0Buzzcocks<\/strong>, the heartfelt rock of\u00a0Quique Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong>, the intensity of\u00a0Libe<\/strong>, and the legendary Lee Rocker<\/strong>, from the Stray Cats, who joins the line-up after the cancellation of Masters of Reality. The day will kick off at Virgen Blanca with Laurie Wright<\/strong>, a London singer-songwriter who has won over the likes of Liam Gallagher and Pete Doherty and is postulated as one of the great promises of pub rock and mod heritage.<\/p>

Friday is headlined by the legendary\u00a0John Fogerty<\/strong>, followed by the iconic\u00a0Lucinda Williams<\/strong>\u00a0and the intensity of\u00a0Public Image Limited<\/strong>, led by Johnny Rotten. The irreverence of\u00a0Turbonegro<\/strong>, the punk energy of\u00a0C.O.F.F.I.N<\/strong>, and the glam party of the newly added\u00a0Bobbie Dazzle<\/strong>\u00a0promise an intense night.\u00a0Diamond Dogs & Chris Spedding<\/strong>\u00a0will pay tribute to Little Richard, and\u00a0Kaotiko<\/strong>\u00a0will celebrate their 25th anniversary with top-tier Basque punk.\u00a0La Estrella Azul<\/strong>\u00a0will perform music from the film of the same name, paying homage to the legacy of M\u00e1s Birras.\u00a0Psilicon Flesh<\/strong>\u00a0will blend metal, pop, and grunge, while\u00a0Reckless Kelly<\/strong>\u00a0debuts in Spain with their red dirt country sound.\u00a0Robert Jon & The Wreck<\/strong>\u00a0will bring electrifying Southern rock, and\u00a0Sarria<\/strong>\u00a0will showcase their fresh take on Spanish pop-rock. As appetizers to the festival, the Araba ARF Tour<\/strong> program continues, which started last May 17 in Amurrio<\/strong> with Letagin<\/strong> and Nukore<\/strong> and will continue on Saturday, June 14<\/strong> in Labastida<\/strong> with the rock with American indie influences of the Bilbao band Nightwaves<\/strong> and the decibels full of rock and roll that will bring the Aramaio band The Clayton<\/strong>. The organization is grateful for the involvement of the Department of Culture of the Provincial Council of Alava, without which this joint project with Azkena Rock Festival would not be possible, and the municipalities of Amurrio and Labastida for their interest and support to host these concerts that bring the flame of the ARF every year to different towns in Alava.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Two special concerts brimming with ARF spirit at the Sala Clamores in Madrid<\/strong> to warm up the engines and calm the anxieties the weekend before the festival and with special offers for the audience. His Lordship (Friday, June 13)<\/strong> is a garage-punk duo formed by The Pretenders’ musicians James Walbourne and Kristoffer Sonne, who sound like the Black Keys through the Hives’ inexhaustible energy blender. Early James (Saturday, June 14)<\/strong>, meanwhile, is a thirty-something from Alabama possessed by an old road bluesman from the 30’s. Sponsored by Dan Auerbach, who produced his latest album, \u2018Medium Raw\u2019, his style is somewhere between Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and Tom Waits, soaked in raw blues, old country and vintage folk, which he defends in trio format on stage.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
